Everything is provided, including a free compass!
First aid requirement offered as well!
Our school is usually held at the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine in Augusta. This campus is beautiful, with a grand conference room complete with huge granite fireplace, and trout ponds and trails just outside. We also regularly have classes at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport, and Selene's Fly Shop in Gardiner. This is a three-day class, and we'll pack every moment of it with great information that will help you walk into your test with confidence!
Each day starts at 8AM or 9AM depending on the location, although we'd love to see you early for complimentary coffee and donuts...
Your instructors for this class will be David Tyrol and Michael Tuminaro. Mike and Dave are not just instructors, they're also full-time guides who spend many days in the field with clients. They're here to make your class fun, comfortable and informative through PowerPoint, videos, and hands-on practice. They will answer any questions you might have during the class or after to ensure that you're ready for the test.
Paramedic Sean Estabrook from the Augusta Fire Department joins us to teach the first aid portion. The first aid add-on is $50.00 additional and meets the state's first aid requirement for your license! This is usually added on to the end of day one.
You will be studying wildlife and plant ID, Maine law, boating safety, client care, map and compass competency, interview techniques and more. We will give you the confidence to answer anything the administrators might throw your way.
The state will test you in three parts: written, map and compass, and oral interview. You will be presented with a tough emergency or "catastrophic" scenario. You will be expected to identify two points on the map and take a bearing. You will take a 100-question written test per authority. We'll help get you ready! By the time that you leave our class, you will feel confident that you can face this challenging testing process!
We have a 91% pass rate among our students!
***Due to the limited space available, our refund policy is a 50% refund up until 2 weeks before the class, at which point there is no longer any available refund. We will transfer your dates to any another class during the same calendar year.***
